Does applying for financing on dell.ca effect your credit?

I have heard that whenever you apply for things like credit cards etc that you took a hit against your credit. Is this true at all? and if so is this true for dell.ca while applying for financing for things like computers TV's etc.

Dell is a Hard Inquiry and does show up on a credit report and stays on there
for 2 years if you have a lot of hard inquiries then yes it will affect it but if it's only
a couple then no....
