How to switch my notebook from wireless connection to Hard line?

ok, so my Hp dv6 laptop is set up to connect to any wireless connection point. However im looking to hardline my notebook via cat5 cable. But when i connect the cable from the modem to my comp, there is no difference and it is still connected to the wireless.

You may need to install a ethernet controller driver for you hard wire to work, you could try looking under device manager and then network to see if it's installed. If you only see your wireless under network you will have to download the driver for
