LCD moniter works on power but as soon as it is plugged in to the moniter it shuts off?

I have a LCD Monitor from Samsung( SyncMaster 913v). When I plug the power cord into the screen it works. The screen turns on. However when I plug in the cable cord to the monitor it shuts down and i cant turn it back again. Is there a way to fix it?
I assume you mean when you connect it to the computer. If it shuts down, either the computer is producing a signal that it can't handle (resolution set too high, for example), or the computer is producing no signal, which could mean that the computer
