Moving iTunes to new computer with external hard drive?

I'm getting a new laptop for Christmas and I want to move my iTunes over to it from our family desktop! What are the steps to get it from my computer to the external hard drive to my new laptop? Also doe it make a difference if it is from Vista to Windows
There are two things you can do to transfer your library. nIf you actually care about play counts then you should do it the other way, just saying that now.
First hook up you external hdd.
second find the folder that has all your itunes
